We commenced our legal action against the Government on 1 May, highlighting the Government’s failure to take practical and effective measures to meet its climate change commitments, violating our rights to life and to family life.

The Government responded by denying it was failing to take effective measures.

In June, the Committee on Climate Change, the Government’s statutory adviser, published two reports confirming that the Government is in fact failing to take effective measures:

UK warned it is unprepared for climate chaos”, BBC

CCC: UK will miss climate goals by ‘huge margin’ without new policies“, Carbon Brief

The High Court has now granted us permission to rely on this new evidence from the CCC (see Court Order).

The Government has till 15 July to address this evidence from the CCC.
